Mary Ellen Mark

“I care about people and that’s why I became a photographer.”. Each of Mary Ellen Mark’s images is a testament to this statement. Street kids in Seattle, brothels in Bombay, disabled children in Iceland: Mark never shied away from reality. She focused on the peripheries of society and befriended the people she photographed.

Mission to Mars

Within the next two decades Nasa plans to launch a manned spacecraft destined for Mars, but the lack of congressional financial support has prompted the space agency to look to alternative funding models to realise its mission. A solution was established in 2006 when, for the first time in its history, Nasa challenged the private space industry to submit designs as part of an open competition.

Lunar Lighting

The idea was conceived four years ago when Lhermitte saw high-resolution images from Nasa's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft. Obtaining access to these images, he then used his own resources to 3D-print the first fully accurate lunar globe. Lhermitte will now hand-cast models from this master globe using polyurethane resin, which sets to resemble a grey concrete.

Exhibition: Henri Cartier-Bresson's Paris

Henri Cartier-Bresson’s striking black and white images transform everyday subject matter. An innovator in street photography, Cartier-Bresson’s eye for composition saw the artist capture Paris with an idiosyncratic flash of humour: a man perched on a bicycle reading a newspaper, a father and son stalked by a gigantic billboard/man.

Maison Kitsuné Reishiki Shorts

These Reishiki unisex shorts from Maison Kitsuné take their inspiration from traditional Japanese judo garments. The textured white cotton shorts are highly structured and come with a simple black cotton belt. The influence is predominantly Japanese, but there is also a reference to Maison Kitsuné’s base in Paris through the brand’s red, white and blue logo sewn onto the front of the double ring belt.
